Getting your free trial

  1. Tap “Get a free trial”WhatsApp opens with a short message already written. Send it as is.
  2. Tell us your setupFire TV Stick, Samsung, LG, Hisense or TCL TV, phone — whatever you’ll watch on. The representative confirms the trial details and that your device suits.
  3. Get connectedYou’re sent your login and the player to use, with help installing it. The same steps are in our Fire TV Stick guide and smart TV guide.
  4. Watch, then decideUse it the way you normally would, then decide whether a plan is worth it for you.

Have this sorted first

  • Your device model. “Fire TV Stick 4K Max” or “Hisense 2023 65-inch” tells us which player to recommend.
  • Updates installed. Run any pending software updates before you start so nothing interrupts setup.
  • Your NBN speed on the TV. Allow around 5 Mbps per HD screen and 15 Mbps for 4K. Most NBN 50 and faster plans cover a couple of screens comfortably — it’s Wi-Fi in the lounge room that usually lets people down.
  • WhatsApp on your phone. The chat, setup help and login all arrive there.

What to test during the trial

Make the trial count by testing the things that matter to you:

  • Prime time. NBN networks are busiest from about 7 to 11 pm, so watch at least one evening — not just a quiet afternoon.
  • Every TV you’ll use. If the main TV is wired and the bedroom one is on Wi-Fi, try both.
  • The biggest screen. That’s where softness or stutter shows first.
  • The TV guide. Check it loads and matches what’s on.
  • Channel changes. Flick through a few — switching should feel quick.
  • Support. Send a question on WhatsApp and see how fast and useful the reply is.

Any stuttering during the test? Our NBN buffering checklist fixes most of it in a few minutes.

Questions

Is a credit card needed for the trial?

No. The trial starts with a WhatsApp chat, so there are no card details to enter on the site.

How long does the free trial last?

When you message us, a representative confirms the trial details and sends setup steps for your device.

What can I watch the trial on?

The same devices as a plan: Fire TV, Android TV and Google TV, Samsung, LG, Hisense and TCL smart TVs, Apple TV, iPhone, iPad and Android phones. Let us know your setup and we’ll check it suits.

What happens when the trial ends?

Nothing automatic. If you want to keep going, choose a plan with a representative; if not, you don’t need to do anything.
